For merchants who sell security and surveillance camera systems

A security camera configurator, built around how you sell.

We build vertical configurators for Shopify. We are looking for a security camera or surveillance systems merchant to build one with: a guided tool that lets your customers spec a complete, compatible CCTV system, recorder, cameras, cabling, and storage, with the PoE and channel math handled for them, on your own storefront. Become a design partner and get it free through beta.

A camera system is easy to spec wrong.

A surveillance system is a recorder, a set of cameras, the cabling to reach them, and enough storage to keep the footage. Get any one of those wrong and the customer ends up with a kit that does not power on, does not record long enough, or does not fit the recorder they bought.

PoE and channel limits get missed

A customer picks eight cameras for a four-channel recorder, or exceeds the recorder's PoE budget so half the cameras will not power. These are the mistakes that turn into returns and one-star reviews.

Storage is an afterthought

Retention depends on camera count, resolution, and frame rate. Buyers rarely size the drive correctly, so they run out of recording days and blame the product.

Generic configurators do not know CCTV

Off-the-shelf Shopify bundle apps cannot express that an NVR has a fixed channel count and a finite PoE budget, or that resolution drives storage. The rules that make a camera kit correct are invisible to them.

Built around your catalog, not a generic template.

This is the core of what a design partner gets. The configurator is shaped around exactly how your business sells camera systems, so it fits you the way an in-house tool would.

We take your recorders, cameras, lenses, cabling, and storage, along with the rules that tie them together, channel counts, PoE budgets, resolution-to-storage math, cable-run limits, and we make those the foundation of the configurator. The result reflects your catalog and how you actually sell, so for you it is not a generic app you adapt to. It is your tool. We have done exactly this in another industry: we built a configurator around one distributor's precise catalog and quoting rules, and it runs live on their store. We want to do the same for a surveillance business.

The design-partner exchange.

This is a genuine partnership rather than a signup form. Below is a plain account of what each side contributes and receives.

What you put in

  • Your product list: recorders, cameras, cabling, storage, and accessories.
  • The rules you use to build a valid system: channel counts, PoE budgets, storage sizing, and compatibility.
  • Your time: testing the configurator and giving feedback as we shape it.

What you get

  • A configurator built around your catalog and your way of selling.
  • Free use through the beta period, at least six months.
  • First-mover advantage: you are selling with it before anyone else in your space.
  • Direct influence over how the product works, because it is built with you.

What being a design partner involves.

So you know the commitment before reaching out, here is roughly what the process looks like.

A few conversations

We learn how you sell camera systems: your recorders and cameras, how you match them, and what a correct system looks like for you.

Sharing your catalog and logic

You give us your product list and the rules behind a valid system, channels, PoE, storage, cabling. We turn those into the configurator's engine.

Testing and feedback

You try it on your store, tell us what is wrong or missing, and we adjust. This is where your influence over the product is real.

Selling with it

You run it live on your storefront, free through beta, while we refine it with you.

Questions

What exactly is a security camera system configurator?

It is a guided tool on your Shopify storefront that lets a customer build a complete surveillance system, recorder, cameras, cabling, and storage, while the tool enforces channel counts, PoE budget, and storage sizing. Instead of ordering parts that may not work together, the customer gets a compatible kit priced from your catalog.

Does it handle PoE budget and channel limits?

Yes. That logic is the point. The configurator keeps camera selections within the recorder's channel count and PoE budget, so a customer cannot build a system that will not power or record. As a design partner, those rules are shaped around the products you actually sell.

Can it size storage and retention?

Yes. Storage sizing based on camera count, resolution, and frame rate can be built into the configurator, so the customer is guided to enough recording capacity for the retention they need.

What does it cost to be a design partner?

Nothing through the beta period, which is at least six months. In exchange you provide your catalog, your system-building rules, and your time testing and giving feedback.

Will my competitors be able to use this?

Yes. The configurator becomes a public Shopify app, so other surveillance merchants will be able to install it. Your advantage as a design partner is that it is built around your catalog and your way of selling, you use it free through beta, and you are live with it before anyone else in your space.

Do I need to be on Shopify?

Yes. We build for Shopify, so the configurator installs on a Shopify store and uses your existing Shopify products. If you sell security camera systems on Shopify, or plan to, you are a fit.
